The quality of American tap water is better than many places around the globe, but that doesn’t mean we can or should take it for granted. There are places in this country where drinking water quality is concerning, unsafe and sometimes … unknown.
Some of the worst tap water in the country qualifies as such not because it is dirty, brown, smells odd or anything that is noticeable. It is what is hiding in the water that makes it so dangerous – drinking water contaminants that could threaten the health of those who consume high amounts. Without a home water filter such as a reverse osmosis system, some of the worst drinking water in the U.S. is making it right into the mouths of too many people.
What is the common issue?
There is not one clear answer. It varies from place to place. Violations range from inadequate testing to dangerous levels of contaminants like arsenic or lead. There is no specific location either, as these violations occur across the country, from rural counties to crowded cities.
Where is the worst tap water found?
